About carmannie (like bradjolina, right?)

Carmen McKay  has a long history of creating life-altering events for struggling social groups. As a child, her first events were  Barbie doll striptease shows in her driveway – Ken was never invited. At 25 she was the assistant producer for the 1987 Gay and Lesbian March on Washington, which attracted over 750,000 attendees.  During that time she also created and produced the largest outdoor women’s festival, Women’s Weekend, on the Russian River in Northern California.  The festival attracted 6000 women twice a year for 8 years.  She went on to create the first-ever women’s outdoor clean and sober festival in the 90s.  Carmen also served as stage manager for the West Coast Women’s Music and Comedy Festivals in Yosemite for several years, as well as entertainment director for the Robin Tyler Women’s Cruise line.

From 1995 – 2003 Carmen was founder and CEO of  a management consulting business called Serious Fun, which specialized in a unique method of management consulting to Fortune 1000 firms through humor.

In 2000 she founded "Reality Theater" in the San Francisco Bay Area, based on her “Philanthropic Entertainment” model for charitable fundraising.  For Reality Theater’s first production (focused on InnVision, a homeless services provider), Carmen was awarded the Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser Award by the National Society of Fund Raising Executive for her “generous contribution and outstanding leadership to the philanthropic movement in Silicon Valley”.  She also received the California State Senate Certificate of Recognition for her “creative illustration of the plight of the homeless”.

In 2007 She She and "40 Women Over 40" was born from her quest to bring fun,  joy and connection to single lesbians over 40.  She and Annie are launching the the 6th "40 Women Over 40" retreat at their original location in Punta Banda, Mexico.

A life-long advocate for animal rights, Carmen is proud to donate 10% profits from all She She Events to a dog rescue shelter in Baja. St. Paco's Place is a no-kill shelter that Carmen helped to establish.

In her earlier years she served as Event Producer for Santa Clara County United Way.

A national keynote speaker, she has been featured in media such as the Wall Street Journal, San Jose Business Journal and KNTV.

Carmen’s successful one-woman show, “Elvis’ Secret Dyke Daughter”  has been on tour recently and will resume on the West Coast in 2014.

Carmen lives with her soul mate and play mate, Annie, in San Diego with Annie's 2 teenagers named Lucky and Sunny and 3 rescue dogs named Tater Tot, Honey and Keeko, one rescue cat named Mister, and a rescue tortoise name Tortalini.  She is a very happy broad.  Well, of course she is, I mean, get a load of Annie!
